Laser Hair Removal Adelaide
Laser hair removal is a popular procedure for both men and women as a method of permanent hair reduction with proven results. At Respect Cosmetic Medicine and Beauty, we use patented IN-Motion™ technology to give our customers a comfortable laser hair removal experience.
The IN-Motion laser system, gently heats targeted hair follicles with pulses of light-based energy, while you stay comfortable. Almost any part of the body (even sensitive areas) can be treated safely including the face, neck, legs, arms, bikini line, back and stomach.
How Does Laser Hair Removal work?
Melanin in the hair follicles preferentially absorb light from the laser which heats them until they no longer able to produce new hair. Effectively, rendering them useless. In addition, our system has a patented Dual Chill mechanism which ensures the surface of your skin stays cool and comfortable throughout the treatment.
Is Laser Hair Removal Safe for all skin types?
Our system is virtually pain free and suitable for all skin types, including tanned skin.
Our Laser Hair Removal System is:
- Virtually pain free
- Long lasting
- Quick
- Recovery-free (so you return to your regular activities sooner)
Preparing for Permanent Laser Hair Removal
1 Month Prior
For those who usually wax the area being treated, waxing 3-4 weeks before your procedure is recommended for best results as the hair will be in its active growth stage during treatment.
3 Weeks Prior
Leading up to your appointment avoid bleaching, tweezing or waxing the area being treated. If you need to remove hair during this period, we recommend shaving for best results. Avoid tanning products.
1 Day Prior
Shave the area being treated thoroughly.
On The Day
Avoid fake tans, body lotion, perfumes and deodorants or anything that may irritate the area being treated.
What Can I Expect After My Laser Hair Removal Session?
After your laser removal procedure, you can expect some redness and skin sensitivity for a few days. Using a cold compress is recommended if any mild swelling is experienced which is normal as the treated follicles are heated.
Laser Hair Removal Aftercare
- Avoid sun, spas, saunas, hot showers or any activity that creates heat on the treated area for 48 hours.
- Wear loose clothing and sunblock to protect the treated area from direct exposure to the sun.
- When drying after showering, gently pat down treated areas to avoid excess irritation.
- After 1 week, lightly exfoliate with a loofa. In the treated area, you will notice dead hairs falling out which is the result you want to see after laser hair removal.
You can ask our experienced operators to recommend products including sunscreens and soothing gels to help you obtain optimum results and keep you comfortable after your laser hair removal treatment.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Laser hair removal is not for everyone. Lighter hair colours like blonde, red or grey hairs do not contain the same amount of pigment (melanin) as dark hair which creates the targeted heat reaction for successfully removing those hairs. Darker skin also contains more melanin which may affect the effectiveness of the laser.
Talk to us today and book in for your FREE consultation where our qualified and experienced operators in cosmetic medicine will assess your hair and skin to determine your personal treatment plan or alternative hair removal options.
Depending on the area being treated and the density of your hair, the time between sessions will vary but in general 8-10 sessions of laser hair removal will be necessary with treatments 4-6 weeks apart.
After your initial laser hair removal sessions, you will only need half yearly or annual visits to maintain your hair free regime.
Laser Hair Removal does not work well with tattoos because the laser gets attracted to the ink which can cause fading or smudging of the tattoo and in some cases the laser may burn the skin. When it comes to hair removal over tattoos, we recommend waxing as a safe alternative.
